CzechTech Week 2019, CzechTech in the center of Silicon Valley events

Every year, CzechInvest sends a group of companies to represent the best of the Czech startup scene to San Francisco's legendary TechCrunch Disrupt. This year was no different and eight companies flew across the pond and joined the CzechInvest West Coast team in the first week of October. Meet our companies:

  • Brigr
  • Enehano
  • eParkomat
  • Exconma
  • Oddin
  • Overax
  • Sensority
  • Wereldo

We kicked the week off by hosting a "Czechoslovakian success" panel discussion on Monday, September 30, where well-established entrepreneurs and working professionals based in the Bay area shared their experiences and insights from Silicon Valley.

Tuesday day was dedicated to workshops and presentations given by American businessmen, who equipped our visiting companies with the necessary knowledge of the market and explained the fundamental principles of the deal-making mechanics in the biggest startup hub in the world.

Having been prepared by top-notch experts like:

  • Max Shapiro (CEO of PeopleConnect)
  • John Ricci (Founder of US Angels)
  • Payom Niazmandi (Founder of Unibui)
  • Angelo Del Priore (Partner at HP Ventures)

In the evening that day, CzechInvest hosted the event of the year called "Underdogs Turning Into Tigers" that aimed to promote the CEE as a of highly-educated, innovative and worldwide competitive talent, which has not been fully discovered by the Western world yet.

Six successful founders on our panel, two moderators and a brilliant key note speech given by a Stanford professor were the pillars of success of this unprecedented event, which, as we believe, will contribute to the flourishing of cooperation among CEE communities. See more pics on our Facebook.

TechCrunch Disrupt itself was (as traditionally) a prestigious event with stars like Will Smith, Ashton Kutcher, Stephen Curry or Marc Benioff being present to share their views on using cutting-edge technology for film-making, to be judges for startup pitches or to discuss the current startup investment philosophy and the importance of a timely IPO.

We are proud to have had a great delegation from the Czech Republic with us and are already looking forward to the next year!
